The University of Kent is delighted to have received funding for doctoral studentships in the Arts and Humanities through the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) Doctoral Landscape Award scheme.
These prestigious awards will fund three doctoral researchers each year from 2026-2028. Successful candidates will join a vibrant and inclusive research community, benefiting from exceptional academic supervision, tailored professional development and cross-institutional collaboration through a training hub network comprising eleven outstanding universities in the South East and South West of England.
Awards will be offered for a minimum of 3.5 years (full time equivalent) with the opportunity to extend up to 4 years to support researcher development opportunities such as placements or additional skills development. The award will cover full fees, a monthly stipend calculated based on the annual UKRI rate and research support funding.
Doctoral projects must be structured and supervised to ensure that researchers can complete and submit their thesis within the agreed funded period established at the start of the project. Both full-time and part-time modes of study are eligible.
In accordance with AHRC eligibility requirements, applicants who have already commenced doctoral study are not eligible for a AHRC Doctoral Landscape Award studentship.
AHRC Doctoral Landscape Awards are offered under UKRI terms and conditions. In line with funder requirements, the majority of awards will be allocated to Home candidates, with up to one-third available for overseas applicants per year.
