Ali Askari
Ali is a PhD Candidate at the School of Politics and International Relations, the University of Kent, who joined the school in September 2023. He obtained his Masters’ degree in British Studies from the University of Tehran in 2022, and his Bachelors’ degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Isfahan in 2019. Selected through a competitive process, Ali stands as the sole new Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) for the academic year 2023-2024 within the school.
The focal point of Ali's ongoing research encompasses the domains of British foreign and security policy intertwined with British-Iranian relations. His doctoral thesis, tentatively titled "Identity Reconstruction in British Foreign and Security Policy: A Case Study of Iran’s Nuclear Programme (2002 – 2022)," aligns with the thematic orientation of his Master's dissertation, titled "Challenges in British-Iranian Relations Under Theresa May and Boris Johnson (2016 – 2021): A Study of British Government Official Documents and Parliament Debates." He is supervised by Professor Richard Whitman (main supervisor) and Dr. Tim Aistrope (secondary supervisor).
