Overview

Research into Sport Therapy and Rehabilitation shapes current and future practice, and this module provides you with an opportunity to do just that. You will put into practice the competencies you have developed during your studies, and comprehensively engage in a topic that you are interested in and passionate about. You will design, conduct and complete an extended piece of independent research in the specialist area of sports therapy and rehabilitation. After identifying an appropriate research question, you will further your knowledge in forming a search strategy, reviewing the literature and critically evaluating the current body of research. You will apply your understanding of research methods to design an experimental approach and collect data which you can analyse, present and report in scientific communications. You will be supported by lectures that cover the planning, management and dissemination of the project
however, a majority of the learning experience will follow a student-led approach under the direction of project supervisor. Your academic supervisor will advise on methodology, analysis and presentation, and will create an environment which will cultivate independent work and thinking. The qualities and skills that you develop during the course of the dissertation will set you up for postgraduate study or a career as an evidence-based sport rehabilitation practitioner, and will also prepare you for employment and further studies in a broad range of career pathways.
