Overview

Clinical practice is key to developing confident and competent Sport Therapy and Rehabilitation graduates. This module will integrate the academic knowledge and professional skills development into professional and patient-facing experience. Under supervision from staff, you will encounter real-life patients in our in-house student-led injury clinic, where you can put your clinical and rehabilitation skills into authentic practice, helping them recover from injury and preventing future injury. You will be given the opportunity to develop both professionally and personally as you build your skills as a Sport Therapy and Rehabilitation practitioner. Accompanying lectures will focus on personal reflection and development, building your profile so that you have all the necessary professional tools to suceed in industry upon graduation.

Method of assessment

Short Writing Piece. Assessment Details: 1,000 words Case Study worth 20%. This Assessment is Pass Compulsory.
Portfolio. Assessment Details: 1,200 words each. Case Study Reflection 1, Case Study Reflection 2 worth 80%. This Assessment is Pass Compulsory.

Learning outcomes

On successfully completing the module, students will be able to: 

1. Apply safe, appropriate, professional and competent clinical practice skills.

2. Evaluate and appraise knowledge of common injuries and conditions into the practical application of various rehabilitation and treatment techniques.

3. Create competent clinical note writing and record keeping skills that meet professional and regulatory requirements.

4. Critically evaluate, self-reflect and critically reason during the assessment, planning and treatment of a variety of neuromusculoskeletal conditions.

  1. Credit level 6. Higher level module usually taken in Stage 3 of an undergraduate degree.
  2. ECTS credits are recognised throughout the EU and allow you to transfer credit easily from one university to another.
