Which pieces of in your design portfolio “book” best showcase your design strengths and indicate your potential to a prospective employer? How can you demonstrate your creative design and production skills to ensure you stand out from everyone else?
The focus of this module is on the resolution, implementation, and production of at least two major practical projects in which you undertake design development against a critical context that you specify. You’ll learn how to utilise the Design Council’s second diamond of the double diamond model to generate a range of concepts, edit, justify, and select the strongest and generate original pieces.
By undertaking two significant design projects, being responsible for setting your own deadlines and taking responsibility for self-defined briefs this module gently scaffolds you from being a learner to being a fully independent designer ready to work in the creative industries.

Presentation plus presentation submission: 15-minute pitch plus pitch deck. worth 20%.
Presentation plus portfolio project: to include presentation (20 minutes), presentation slide deck, project brief(s), final outcome(s), and supporting documentation. worth 80%. This Assessment is Pass Compulsory.

On successfully completing the module, students will be able to:?
1. Conduct independent research and formulate methodologies for elaboration and refinement of ideas based on previous knowledge, research, and experience. (A3)
2. Design and realise conceptually and formally imaginative work using appropriate resources and time-management skills. (B2, C3, A6)
3. Articulate audience, critical contexts and intention for projects evaluating how these influence design strategy and design decisions. (A5)
4. Reflect on learning and use critical evaluation to improve your practice and project outcomes. (C4)
