Dr Andrew Langley

About

Andrew has been working within Crime Scene Examination in London for more than 30 years, initially as a Scenes of Crime officer engaged in the examination of volume and serious crime whilst working towards an expert status in fingerprint identification.

For the last 15 years he has been responsible for the management of the forensic response to many high-profile homicide and unexplained death investigations. Qualifications and experience in Disaster Victim Identification culminated in his being the forensic lead at the UK mortuary following the Tunisian beach attack in 2015 and managing the forensic response to the identification process following the 2017 fire at Grenfell Tower. 

Research interests

  • Crime Scene Management techniques in current and cold case investigations.
  • Balancing the needs of a large enquiry with the wellbeing of staff.
  • Maximising the appropriate use of niche forensic services (Anthropology, Archaeology and Entomology).
  • Establishing post-mortem interval in historic cases.
