What does a typical workday look like for you?

A typical work day is a combination of implementing sustainable business practices, attending meetings, and providing strategies for business transformation as well as speaking on panels with like minds in the energy and utility industry and also offering mentorships.

What advice would you give to our current/prospective students who are looking to get into the same line of work?

For those looking to enter the oil, gas, and utility industry, my advice is to avoid comparing yourself to others and focus on your journey.

Always do your best and be confident in your abilities. Stay informed about industry trends and be adaptable to changes and build a strong network and gain practical experience through internships or entry-level positions.

Lastly, it’s important to prioritise safety and sustainability in all your work.

What are your future ambitions?

I see Oclas Group as becoming one of the top leaders in business transformation and strategy promoting sustainable business practices in the Europe the Middle East and Africa.

Can you share a professional highlight from your career so far?

One of the most rewarding moments in my career has been leading transformative projects for a major international oil company. I spearheaded initiatives that streamlined operations, improved efficiency, and significantly boosted profitability.

This experience not only solidified my reputation as a leader in project management and business transformation but also showcased my ability to deliver impactful results on a global scale.

How did your time at Kent help you achieve your current career?

My education at Kent was absolutely instrumental in my career journey. My undergraduate degree in Computer Systems Engineering laid a strong technical foundation, while my MBA in International Oil and Gas Management from the University of Dundee honed my strategic skills. Additionally, my master's in Marketing Management from Kent provided invaluable business knowledge and insight into market dynamics.

Beyond academics, my involvement as PRO of the African Caribbean Society helped me develop leadership skills and appreciate cultural diversity, both of which have been invaluable in my career.

I also can't forget that Canterbury is where I launched my consulting business, drawing on the knowledge and network I gained at Kent.

Do you have a favourite memory from your time at Kent?

One of my fondest memories is definitely the time I spent organizing and hosting cultural events with the African Caribbean Society. These events were not just celebrations of diversity; they were opportunities to foster understanding and unity among students from all walks of life. It was incredibly rewarding to contribute to a vibrant and inclusive campus community.

Is there anything you would do differently if you could repeat your time at Kent?

If I could go back, I think I would explore more interdisciplinary opportunities and seek hands-on experiences like industry projects and internships. While my academic studies were incredibly valuable, gaining practical experience in my field would have been even more beneficial as I transitioned into the professional world.
