Since graduating from Kent, I have been working within the technology side of the finance industry. I am currently a Developer at Barclays.
As a Developer at Barclays, a typical day will see me working on building applications which help with the detection of transaction fraud.
A professional highlight in my role is that the work that I do day to day is having positive impact on people’s lives by preventing them from being victims of fraud.
During my time at Kent I gained knowledge on coding. It was particularly beneficial learning how to apply this skill to real work scenarios.
I would advise current students who are looking to break into the tech sector to get as much industry experience as possible whilst still at university. Internships and placements will be incredibly helpful when you are applying for jobs after graduation.
My favourite memory from my time at Kent is having dinner in Rutherford College with my friends and working together with my course mates in the Jennison engineering building.
I think if I were to do anything differently, I would get involved with more extra-curricular activities.
Yes, I am.
My future ambitions to create innovations within the technology space.
