About us |
|
Biological Anthropology is the newest of the University of Kent Anthropology research groups. We are primarily interested in (1) bioarchaeology, (2) human reproductive strategies & life history analysis, (3) hominin evolution (4) primate behaviour & ecology, and (5) modern human variation.
Currently work is being undertaken in a number of these areas, and research links have been forged with colleagues at Kent in archaeology and biosciences, as well as with those at the Quex (formerly, Powell-Cotton) Museum, the Budongo Forest Project, Uganda, and University College London. We have a dedicated research laboratory and up-to-date computing facilities to allow research in many areas of biological anthropology.

We also have a dedicated teaching lab featuring the latest audio-visual system and an extensive collection of fossil casts, including many skulls and a complete cast of the 'Nariokotome boy' skeleton, as well as an extensive comparative collection of extant primate skeletal material. Together, these allow for a rich, 'hands-on' learning experience.
We offer a number of BSc programmes, as well as the opportunity to pursue research for either an MSc (1 year) or PhD (3-4 years).
