Postgraduate Programme Testimonials

I chose the International Relations (International Double Award) programme at Kent because it is a two-year course which allows me to spend the first year in the UK and the second year in photoRussia where I'll have the opportunity to improve my Russian language skills and consolidate everything I have learned. I will also graduate with two Master's degrees. What I love about postgraduate study at Kent is the fact that you are encouraged to talk to students of other disciplines, such as anthropology and sociology. Kent really offers a 'total learning experience' - whatever you do or whoever you meet you are always learning something new. The Department of Politics and International Relations are very supportive. The academics are always available if you need them and the Departmental staff are friendly and ready to help. We also have a designated student support officer so you never feel that you are on your own. I feel that completing an International Master's degree will really help my career prospects in the future.

My experience at kent well prepared me for stepping into the International Development area. The flexibility in the selection of courses and assignments allowed me to shape the International Conflict Analysis degree to my personal interests, always counting with the support of a professional, approachable staff body. In addition, the diversity of students within the Politics and International Relations department, coming from a variety of academic fields, corners of the world, religions and cultures, was a reflection of the work environment in the development field, preparing me for a diverse and complex world, where cultural sensitivity is highly valued. The combination of theoretical and practical courses helped me make a smooth transition into the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), where I started working soon after my graduation from Kent and where I have been for nearly three years. This experience, combined with the beautiful Canterbury setting of the campus, made my year at Kent an unforgettable one.

photoI thoroughly enjoyed my experience at the University of Kent, administrative and academic staff were friendly, approachable and supportive. Not only was I able to establish a good friendship group, I found it particularly interesting to interact and share classes with people from many different cultures and backgrounds.
