How to Apply

Applications for September 2012 entry are now open. The easiest way is to apply online and forward all supporting documentation to the University's Recruitment and Admissions Office as soon as possible. The School of Politics and International Relations will not be able to take a decision on your application until we are in possession of full documentation. If you prefer to apply on paper, please contact the Recruitment and Admissions Office for an application form.

Supporting Documents

In addition to filling in the application form, you also need to provide:

  • Evidence of your academic qualifications. If you have not yet completed your degree, please send us an interim transcript (a list of all the modules/courses you have taken with the mark achieved for each). Once you have been awarded your degree we will require a final transcript and a certificate confirming your overall degree classification. For the purposes of application a copy of your transcript is acceptable however you will need to show us the original copy upon registration.
  • References from two academic referees. All references must be in English. The University needs to receive both references before deciding on your application. If you apply online you referee will be sent an automatic email requesting their references, we can accept references by email provided your referees use their institutional email account and follow up the email with copies written on official letterheaded paper and signed by the referee.
  • Evidence of English language ability, if required
  • Any other materials or documents you would like to be considered in support of your application.

Peace and Conflict Studies applicants:

  • In addition to the above documents please attach a copy of your CV to the application form
  • Please indicate on the reasons for study box on the application form whether you would like to start at Kent or Marburg
  • Due to the limited places available on the programme, applicants who submit their application early (i.e. before end of March) will have a much higher chance of securing a place on the programme

Brussels and Canterbury Split-site applicants:

  • Please indicate on the reasons for study box on the application form whether you would like to start in Canterbury or Brussels

European Governance (International Double Award) applicants:

  • Please indicate on the reasons for study box on the application form whether you would study in Grenbole or Krakow for the second year of the programme.

Deadline

There is no formal application deadline but early applications, i.e. by the end of March, are strongly encouraged. As a general guidelines, the majority of successful applications are submitted to the School between November and April. Students wishing to apply for accommodation on campus must have received an unconditional offer and applied by 31st July 2011. Applicants for scholarships or other awards should also note the relevant closing date for those.

 

European Governance (International Double Award) applicants:

Applicants applying to study in Grenoble as part of the European Governance Award programme will need to submit their application no later than 31 May 2012.
