Professor Burgess elected Vice-President of the International Association of Centres for Federal Studies

Professor Michael Burgess, the Director of the Centre for Federal Studies (CFS), attended the Annual Conference of the International Association of Centres For Federal Studies (IACFS) in Philadelphia, USA to represent the CFS at the University of Kent.

The conference was hosted by Rutgers University and Lafayette College and Professor Burgess chaired one of the sessions and was duly elected Vice-President of the IACFS for the next three years.

The CFS hosted this conference in September 2009 in Canterbury and the next annual conference will be organised in Speyer in Germany in September 2011. There are 28 centres for federal studies throughout the world which serve as the principal focus for research and teaching in federalism.
