There are cameras at strategic points on the Canterbury and Medway campuses, monitored and recorded by trained CCTV operators, through our 24/7 Campus Watch Control.
The University's security officers provide an on-campus walking escort service for any student who may feel vulnerable. They can be accompanied anywhere on campus, on foot, by a security guard at any time. It is accessible by contacting Campus Watch Control through internal or external phone lines.
College receptionists work between 6.00 and 22.00 when they are replaced from 22.00 to 6.00 by uniformed, in-house security officers who have knowledge of fire alarm systems, evacuation procedures and are trained first aiders. They also deal with all incidents in those areas such as noise complaints and do proactive patrols to prevent and deter crime and incidents.
Access to the Medway campus is monitored by the gatehouse staff and members of security patrol the site 24 hours a day. There is a Police Community Support Officer based in the Pilkington Building who regularly patrols the campus and all areas are covered by CCTV.
