Institution of Engineering and Technology Awards

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) is one of the world's leading professional societies for the engineering and technology community, with more than 150,000 members in 127 countries and offices in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific.

The IET offers a range of awards of up to £10,000 per annum for postgraduate students.If you achieved a 2:1 or higher in your first degree and are an IET member (or are interested in becoming a member) then why not apply for an IET Postgraduate Scholarship worth up to £10,000?

In 2019, five IET Postgraduate Scholarships and Prizes will be available.

For PhD or EngD researchers in their first or second year of research:
Leslie H Paddle Scholarship: £5,000 - To encourage excellence in engineering and technology research, with a preference for electrical, electronic or manufacturing engineering.
Hudswell International Research Scholarship: £5,000 - To encourage excellence in engineering and technology research, with a preference for electrical, electronic or manufacturing engineering.

For PhD or EngD researchers in their third or fourth year of research:
IET Postgraduate Prize: Up to two awards of £2,500 - To assist with research work leading to the award of a Doctorate, with a preference towards electrical, electronic or manufacturing engineering.
IET Postgraduate Scholarship for an Outstanding Researcher: £10,000 - The prize aims to help researchers to share advancing knowledge throughout the global science, engineering and technology community to enhance people’s lives around the world.

Criteria

  • There are scholarships available for postgraduate university students who are studying both in the UK and overseas and who have achieved a 2:1 or higher in their first degree. 
  • Applications are welcomed from students who are part way through their doctorate degrees. 
  • The IET are unable to accept applications from students undertaking MSc courses.

Your university supervisor will need to forward the reference section of the application form once completed.
