Kent has climbed 11 places to 33rd in RateMyPlacement’s Best Universities for Work Experience table 2025-2026, reflecting the wide range of opportunities available to Kent students to gain real-world experience, develop key skills, and enhance their employability.

The ranking is based solely on student-written reviews on RateMyPlacement.co.uk, a website where students can share their honest opinions of their placements. Specifically, students were asked to rate the resources and support provided by the University to those seeking work experience.

Kent’s inclusion in the top 35 is testament to the dedication of its award-winning Careers and Employability Service (CES) in supporting students looking to develop employability skills and give their CV a competitive edge. Having developed an extensive network of quality placement providers, the team are able to work closely with Kent students to identify opportunities which meet both their skills and aspirations.

Many of Kent’s degree programs offer optional placement years through which students can work full-time in an industry related to their studies. Students can also take on shorter internships during the summer break to gain experience without committing to a full year. Kent also supports students to volunteer in charity, student-led initiative, or local community projects to develop transferable skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership.

Kent students can also take part in the unique Employability Points Scheme which rewards them for their active engagement with co-curricular activities with experiences of work. These range from paid-internships and project placements to work shadowing opportunities, as well as training sessions and company experiences. This innovative approach towards enhancing student employability gives employers access to the most engaged students at Kent, whilst helping students discover a career path that is right for them.

James Corbin, Head of Careers and Employability, said: ‘I am really proud of how our students push themselves to reach their career goals. They are constantly challenging our expectations of what young people can achieve and demonstrating clearly that, with the right support, they are able to move mountains. Being able to support them to do so through our Careers and Employability Service is a huge privilege for me and my team.’
