John Millett
Prior to joining the University of Kent in January 2002 John worked in the Life Assurance Industry for 15 years. He worked for Friends' Provident for two years before joining the life assurance arm of Lloyds Bank (later Lloyds TSB) in 1988. During that time he worked in the areas of product development, business and financial planning, corporate actuarial reporting and group risk management. He qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 1993.
At Kent, John has taught modules in financial mathematics, survival models, contingencies, financial economics, life assurance practice, finance and investment, derivative securities and financial modelling. He is the Chief Examiner for the School. His external commitments include acting as Deputy Chair of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) Board of Examiners having previously been a Chief Examiner for over 15 years. He has been an external/IFoA independent examiner at various other universities.
Currently teaching modules in Financial Mathematics, Actuarial Mathematics and Financial Modelling.
