To become a University of Kent apprentice, you'll need to find a vacancy you are interested in with one of the employers we work with using the Find an Apprenticeship Service website.

If you are not currently employed in a relevant role but are keen to pursue an apprenticeship, we suggest the following:

  • Sign-up to our mailing list to hear about any new vacancies that are offered through the University of Kent
  • Register with the Government's Find an Apprenticeship service to search for current vacancies.
  • Seek relevant work experience in the sector you want to work in
  • Reach out to potential employers or those hiring to see if they would consider taking you on as an apprentice

If you do find an employer who is happy to take you on an apprenticeship but they are not currently working with an apprenticeship provider, we can arrange a meeting with them to discuss how apprenticeships work from an employer point of view and the benefits of taking on an apprenticeship.

Social Researcher Apprenticeship

Verian is one of the leading social research agencies in the UK. We have over 150 specialist researchers and are based in a fabulous, open plan office in Westminster, London, opposite the Houses of Parliament.

That means we are in the heart of government, close to where our data is used to shape policy and decisions. It makes it easy for us to have collaborative face-to-face meetings with our clients and is a great place to come to work.

Our work hits the headlines and helps shape government policy. We run projects like the Crime Survey of England and Wales, interviewing over 30,000 people each year about their experiences as victims of crime, on behalf of the Home Office.

Our team helps government and public bodies understand the impact of their communications. This includes the NHS posters you see that encourage people to eat healthily and the Transport for London posters you see on the Underground reminding you to ‘mind the gap’.

We also develop and evaluate government policy. For example, our evaluation of the Tampon Tax Fund assessed how the government used the money from tax on sanitary products to fund projects that improve the lives of disadvantaged women and girls.

We lead the data collection for the Understanding Society survey, which follows people over a long period of time, helping us understand how life in the UK is changing and what stays the same over many years. Click here to find out more.

Social Researcher Apprenticeship

IFF is a social and market research agency, we design research to understand more about the issues that are affecting the UK, so that better decisions can be made about what to do, and how to solve problems.
We work in several different areas, including education, the environment, health and wellbeing, housing, and finance. Many of our clients are Government departments, but we also conduct research for charities, universities, housing providers, and some businesses like banks.

Each research project that we do is very different, so working with us means you will always be learning something new. Here are some examples of the sorts of research we’ve done:

• Research to understand whether disabled people feel their local sports centres are accessible for them.
• Research to understand whether people who are coming up to retirement age, know how to apply for their pension.
• Research to understand whether new schemes to help parents engage with their babies, are working.
• Research to understand what skills people have within businesses, and what ‘skills gaps’ there are in the UK.
• Research to understand what it’s like for women to seek support for a gambling addiction, and how we can help create better support in future.

Our work covers the whole research process – we design each research project from scratch, then we design questionnaires, interview people, analyse the data and write reports and presentations to explain our findings.
We’re proud that time and time again we hear that the best thing about working here is our people – we know we have some of the most talented, friendly and interesting people in the research industry. We have different ways of thinking and working, but we all have a shared goal of discovering what is going on in the world and making a positive difference.

You’ll be joining a company that values input from its team, and you’ll have the opportunity to join our committees and take part in our regular social events. We offer 28 days holiday plus bank holidays, private healthcare options, flexible working, wellbeing support and social events among other benefits to cater to all of our team.
