Canterbury campus

All parking is free of charge for Postgraduate Information Events. Please be aware that parking is limited and cannot be guaranteed. We would therefore advise visitors to use public transport wherever possible. If you plan to arrive by train or bus, you can travel from the train or bus stations to the Canterbury campus using the local bus service.

If you come by car you will be directed to a car park by our traffic marshals when you arrive. The postcode for satellite navigation is CT2 7NP (University Road).

On arrival you will be directed to a car park by our traffic marshals. If you require an accessible bay, just let the traffic marshals know (please bring your blue badge with you if you have one) and they will direct you to the relevant car park.

Canterbury has two train stations - Canterbury East and Canterbury West. The bus station is located in the city centre.

Buses depart from Canterbury Bus Station and call at Canterbury East train station shortly afterwards. If you are arriving at Canterbury West, please exit the station, turn right and walk to the end of the road. Cross the road at the zebra crossing and the bus stop is on the left. Journey time to campus is approximately 15 minutes.

The University is unable to reimburse any costs incurred for travelling to the Postgraduate Information Events.

There are plenty of hotels close to the Canterbury campus. Please visit the Canterbury tourist information website for details.

We also have a limited number of rooms available on campus at our self-catered guest accommodation Beverley Farmhouse on the Canterbury campus. Single and double rooms are available, all with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities.

Medway campus

Pembroke site

All parking is free of charge for Postgraduate Information Events. If you are using satellite navigation, please use the postcode for the Drill Hall Library car park on the Pembroke site, which is ME4 4TB. On arrival, please follow the signage to the car parks, where our traffic marshals will direct you where to park.

The Historic Dockyard

Parking is free of charge for University of Kent Postgraduate Information Event visitors. The Dockyard is across the roundabout outside the entrance to the Pembroke site. From the roundabout, at the junction of Maritime Way and Dock Road, take the exit signposted The Historic Dockyard. The postcode is ME4 4TY.

On arrival you will be directed to a car park by our traffic marshals. If you require an accessible bay, just let the traffic marshals know (please bring your blue badge with you if you have one) and they will direct you to the accessible bays.

If you are visiting the facilities for Kent Business School or the Centre for Music and Audio Technology and have stated on your booking form that you have special requirements (eg mobility) then we will email you an accessible parking permit via the email address you supplied when you made your booking.

On arrival at the Pembroke site, you will be directed to the Drill Hall Library car park by by our traffic marshals. If you require an accessible bay, just let the marshals know and they will direct you to the accessible bays.

The Historic Dockyard

If you are visiting the facilities for Kent Business School or the Centre for Music and Audio Technology and have stated on your booking form that you have special requirements (eg mobility) then we will email you an accessible parking permit via the email address you supplied when you made your booking.

Chatham and Gillingham train stations are the most accessible station for the Medway campus and have regular services from Charing Cross, Waterloo East, London Bridge, Cannon Street, London Victoria, Ramsgate and Dover. The University is a short bus or taxi ride from both stations.

  • Chatham station is 2.3 miles from campus, approximately 45 minutes walk or five minutes by bus.
  • Gillingham station is 1.2 miles from campus, approximately 20 minutes walk or 10 minutes by bus (the bus stop is five minutes walk from the station)

A high speed service is available from London St Pancras to Ebbsfleet International with a journey time of approximately 20 minutes. From Ebbsfleet, you can catch a connecting train to Chatham which takes approximately 20 minutes.

Arriva bus service number 116 runs to and from Hempstead Valley - Gillingham - Universities@Medway - Chatham and allows you to travel directly onto the Medway campus.

Arriva bus services 100, 190 and 191 leave frequently from the bus stop outside Chatham train station and take approximately 15 minutes to get to the bus stop on Dock Road outside the entrance to the Medway campus. This is known as the Compass Centre stop or the Chatham Maritime stop.

Local bus timetables can be found on the Arriva website and taxis are available at Chatham and Gillingham train stations.
