Sarah-Ann Allotey

International Foundation Programme

The IFP prepared me for the course of my choice which is Law and Economics, as well as  helping me enhance my study skills.

Why did you want to study at Kent?

I wanted to study Law and Economics at the University of Kent because of how well structured the course was. Before picking a course in Kent, you get an insight of what you will be expected to study throughout your degree.

I also liked the greenery scenery the school provided since it is basically situated on a hill with lots of plants and cute bunnies surrounding it.

Why did you apply for the International Foundation Programme (IFP)?

I applied to the International Foundation Program basically to help bridge the gap in studies I had since I did not do the British system or A-levels. I also applied to help me to get direct entry into the University because my current WAEC certificate was insufficient for a direct entry.

Did you think the IFP was a good preparation for the degree course?

The IFP prepared me for the course of my choice which is Law and Economics, as well as  helping me enhance my study skills.

Had you lived in the UK before you came to Kent?

No, I had not. But I would visit the UK occasionally on holidays.

Did you get help to settle into your studies and university life in general?

Since my foundation program was online, the teachers made sure that we still did not miss out on the university life. Our classes were well planned with our exams and tests also being well planned.

What about support for your wellbeing?

My academic advisor really helped me through any issue I had. They were really my support throughout the stress and the anxiety of the day-to-day university life.

What was the highlight of your foundation course?

I think the highlight of my course for me was winning a scholarship award after the programme ended. That gave me the push I needed to involve myself in a lot of school activities and not let the fear of failure consume me.

What are you doing now?

I am in my second year studying Law and Economics LLB.
