Taha leads strategic, growth, and product marketing initiatives and represents NETS at major international industry events such as Tech Show London, Connected Britain and Cisco Live. He is ambitious about his future, aiming for a C-level role at a Fortune 500 company in his 30s, with plans to one day launch his own global enterprise.

What is your current job role, where are you located, what does your company/organisation do, and what do you enjoy about it?

I am the Regional Marketing Manager at NETS International Group, overseeing the UK, Europe, USA, and Canada regions. NETS is a global technology company specialising in IT and Telecommunications Solutions. Our comprehensive service portfolio spans three core verticals: Infrastructure, Digital, and Managed Solutions, including Access Networks (Fixed and Wireless), Enterprise Data Networks, Cloud Solutions, Cybersecurity, Automation, Resource Outsourcing, and IT Managed Services.

In my role, I lead account-based marketing, drive digital and product campaigns, manage client outreach using digital tools, and oversee corporate communications and the development of strategic collateral such as white papers, feasibility reports, brochures, digital media, and video content, essentially overseeing brand management, strategic marketing, growth marketing, organic marketing, and project management, all aligned with corporate strategy to strengthen NETS' brand presence and reputation across assigned regions.

What I truly enjoy about my role is the strategic scope and global exposure. From marketing new products to managing large-scale international events, every project offers an opportunity to deliver real impact.

Were you a UK or international student? If international, which is your home country?

I was an international student from Karachi, Pakistan. Despite the physical distance, the University of Kent felt like home. The environment was welcoming, the support was real, and I was encouraged to thrive and be the best version of myself, academically and socially.

What does a typical working day look like for you?

My day revolves around strategising digital and strategic marketing campaigns, engaging clients through personalised outreach, and creating impactful messaging to keep our global client base informed on our latest innovations, for a diverse technology portfolio encompassing Fibre, IT Managed Services, and in-house Digital Products. I currently manage a £100,000+ marketing portfolio and lead projects spanning product launches, event planning, content creation, and brand positioning, all while aligning with regional goals and market dynamics in North America and Europe.

I also liaise regularly with project and product teams, representing them at local and global forums to develop case studies that address industry challenges, demonstrate how NETS solves them, and create positive brand messaging that educates and inspires stakeholders. The communication, analytical, and storytelling skills I use in this part of my work were deeply nurtured during my time at the university.

Can you share a professional highlight from your career so far?

I’ve had the privilege of single-handedly managing NETS’ presence at major global events like Connected Britain (London), Connected North (Manchester), Tech Show London, Fiberdays (Germany), and Cisco Live (Netherlands), often back-to-back. These opportunities gave me direct exposure to managing C-level and global industry relationships, and showcased my ability to drive international marketing campaigns from scratch. It's been an exhilarating and rewarding ride.

How did your time at Kent help you achieve your current career?

The University of Kent gave me more than just a degree. It gave me skills, confidence, and clarity. Modules like New Product Marketing, Operations Management, and Strategy Analysis provided the academic grounding I needed to excel in fast-paced corporate settings.

The first job I ever held was at the University of Kent itself, when I was shortlisted, after a rigorous selection and interview process, as a Student Ambassador. It was the first time I experienced a formal corporate-style environment, which albeit being challenging, was incredibly rewarding. The role involved conducting campus tours across a 300-acre state-of-the-art grassland campus for large student groups, hosting school groups, and delivering in-classroom support to prospective students visiting from schools. I learned how to represent a professional institution with confidence, and developed foundational skills in public speaking, event coordination, and stakeholder engagement, all of which continue to shape my approach today.

After graduating, I joined Habib Bank Limited (HBL), the largest bank in Pakistan, in their Corporate Strategy function, where I worked on the digital transformation of customer experience. The strategic insight and professional edge I brought to that role were direct outcomes of my time at Kent.

My prior experiences, including my time at HBL and as a Student Ambassador at Kent, set me up for a role at NETS International in the UK, where I joined their West Sussex Office, initially in the Sales Department, representing the company at major events like Tech Show London and Connected Britain. After a year, I moved back home to Karachi, but I was retained by the company, and was promoted to lead regional marketing initiatives for the UK & Europe, and eventually expanded my portfolio to include North America.

Kent Business School was the foundation that helped me step into this journey with purpose, confidence, and skill. Concepts I studied at the university regularly inform my work, especially in areas like product marketing, where they continue to shape my strategic thinking and decision-making.

What advice would you give to our current/prospective students who are looking to get into the same line of work?

Be intentional with your studies. If you aspire to a particular career, choose modules that align with your goals. Kent Business School offers a plethora of opportunities across marketing, tech, finance, and more, use them wisely. Build your acumen, stay curious, and treat your time at Kent as the launchpad it truly is.

Are you still in touch with other Kent alumni or academics?

Absolutely! I’ve made lifelong friends at University of Kent. These friendships, built in the lecture halls, at Sibson, and across late nights at Templeman Library, but most importantly through the thriving campus life, continue to bring both personal and professional value into my life.

What are your future ambitions?

I’m in my late 20s, and my ambition is to reach unprecedented heights in the global corporate arena, with the goal of becoming a C-level executive at a Fortune 500 company in my 30s, ideally leading Marketing, Sales, and Commercial functions as a Marketing,  Commercial Director, Chief Commercial Officer, or CEO. I aspire to drive high-growth strategies, lead multi-billion-dollar revenue portfolios, and make data-driven decisions that shape shareholder value on a global scale.

By the time I’m 40, I envision building and scaling an enterprise of my own. While that may sound ambitious, or even unrealistic to some, I’m determined to make it happen. I’m deeply motivated by transformational change, commercial performance, strategic expansion, and the pursuit of long-term economic value. Kent Business School provided me with the academic foundation, professional edge, and global perspective needed to pursue this path with clarity and confidence.

Is there anything else you’d like to share about your time at Kent or current business trends and insights?

The business world is evolving rapidly, with digital transformation, customer-centric solutions, and automation reshaping industries. There’s immense opportunity for professionals who understand both the technical and strategic aspects of business.

Kent Business School doesn’t just teach you what to think, but how to think, and that mindset is one of the biggest assets you can carry into today’s global market. It was an investment that’s paid off immensely, and I’m proud to represent Kent on the world stage.
