Tell us about your career path since graduation.

I aim to become a leader in international development while contributing to academia through research. I accepted a PhD from the University of Buckingham immediately after my studies at Kent and would be rounding off by the end of 2024.

What does a typical work day look like for you?

As a PhD student, every day comes with new challenges. Reading tons of papers, reviewing and writing can be exhausting.

Can you share a professional highlight from your career so far?

For my research on community policing, I have been awarded the Royal Historical Society postgraduate grant and the World Scholar Travel Scholarship to the USA.

How did your time at Kent help you achieve your current career?

My PhD journey began with my research at the University of Kent. Kent gave me the spark I needed to become an international researcher.

What advice would you give to our current/prospective students who are looking to get into the same line of work?

Do not miss a day without thinking about maximising the opportunities around you. Talk to your teachers and use the services available to grow professionally. Make the right contacts and stay connected. The contacts you make today will be the network that supports you tomorrow.

Did you get involved in any extracurricular activities as a student?

I came to Kent at the peak of COVID-19 but managed to volunteer with books in Africa. It was a great time to contribute, learn, and connect.

Do you have a favourite memory from your time at Kent?

Yes

Is there anything you would do differently if you could repeat your time at Kent?

I wish covid didn’t happen. I would have loved to be more involved in the student union and more volunteer opportunities.

Are you still in touch with other Kent alumni or academics?

Yes I am

What are your future ambitions?

I am passionate about a career in international development and consulting.
