Postgraduates

The School of Physical Sciences offers both taught and research postgraduate opportunities. The research programme leads to Doctorate and Masters' degrees with a range of cutting-edge research projects available (see below).

The EuroMasters in Physics is a taught programme, based on what has become the European standard, combining one taught year with a second research year. Scholarships are available. The new MSc in Forensic Science Taught launched in 2012.

The Graduate School

The Graduate School provides a focus for all aspects of research and postgraduate training and is committed to ensuring the highest quality experience for students and staff alike. The aim is to provide high quality research training in a stimulating environment, and to allow our higher degree students to collaborate and to compete successfully with their peers within both industrial and academic settings. The skills, abilities and enthusiasm of our students are considered a vital element in our research activity.

The work carried out at Kent is of the highest academic standard and is often related to medical, commercial and industrial problems. The research groups are focused in the areas of Functional Materials, Applied Optics and Astrophysics and Planetary Science.

This list is not exhaustive - we can accept applications for a research topic of your own choosing provided we have an academic member of staff whose area of expertise matches your proposal. Funded PhD Projects

We usually have a number of funded PhD positions to fill each year. Details of our current funded vacancies are available by clicking here. In general, applications for funded positions must be received by the end of May each year unless an advert has an explicit alternative closing date.
