Work Experience 2012

This summer we are offering 12 work experience placements: six during the week 25-29th June and six during the week 2-6th July . We are also offering 4 placements in the autumn term (5-9th  November) where students assist in the running of the SPS teaching laboratories. The placements will cover three subject areas (maximum 2 students per subject area):

  • Physics – typically you will be involved in the preparation of outreach material, e.g. web pages and posters, as well as testing and helping to design new undergraduate experiments. Opportunities will usually arise for you to assist in various outreach activities.
  • Forensic science – here you will get the opportunity to help improve and to develop new undergraduate practicals and projects, as well as contribute to the up-keep of a very busy teaching laboratory. Again, you will have the chance to participate in some hands-on forensics outreach.
  • Chemistry – you will mostly be charged with testing simple undergraduate experiments and providing feedback on the laboratory manuals. You will also assist with routine laboratory maintenance.

For further information or to book a placement, please contact Dave Pickup (dmp@kent.ac.uk).

Please note that our summer placements for this year have all been filled. You can, however, still have you name and details added to a reserve list in case of cancellations.
