KIASH Funding


The Faculty of Humanities has a strong tradition of interdisciplinary research as well as discipline-based research of individual academics. This is managed through the Schools and Centres of the Faculty, brought together under the auspices of the Kent Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (KIASH) and the Faculty Research Committee.

The Faculty Research Committee comprises the Dean of Humanities, the Faculty, KIASH and School Directors of Research, the Director of KIASH and the Faculty Director of Graduate Studies. The Committee provides an overall framework for research, formulates policy and gives direction to KIASH.

KIASH organises, supports and coordinates an annual programme of research activity in all fields of the humanities. It enhances the research culture of the Faculty and encourages new and interdisciplinary research.

Faculty Research Funding
The Faculty supports research through a variety of funding schemes.

Research Centres and Groups
Research Centres and Groups have been developed to provide a focus for particular areas of interest that in many instances involve academic staff from a range of Schools.
