Moodle at Kent
Earlier this year the decision was taken to move from WebCT to Moodle, an open-source virtual learning environment (VLE).
To manage this project the Moodle Implementation Group was set up which includes staff from the Unit for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (UELT) and Information Services (IS). The first phase of the project – to design a Moodle interface providing similar functionality to WebCT, while exploring the potential of Moodle – is now complete and a report was presented to the E-Learning Strategy Group on 15 May.
An initial design for Moodle implementation at Kent was presented at a Web Forum on 21 May: view video of the forum on the e-learning site. It was well attended and useful feedback was received from staff across the University.
Implementation
The main consultation period will take place during Autumn Term 2008, when Moodle will be available for demonstrating to academic departments and for individual staff members to try.
