Use ClaroRead Pro to turn printed materials into machine-readable format and listen to text out loud

Functionality

​ClaroRead Pro reads text out loud from Microsoft Word documents. This software also provides a coloured overlay for documents to assist reading and offers Optical Character Recognition (OCR) that can turn printed materials into a machine-readable format, so you can listen to them read out loud.


Tips for using this tool at Kent

Staff and students may use ClaroRead Pro on any campus PC for free. A personal copy of the software can be purchased or may be available from Student Support for free.

ClaroRead Pro text-to-speech software can be used to support those who struggle with print-based information. Use ClaroRead Pro to proofread web pages or Google Documents for spelling or grammar mistakes.

If you would like free access to ClaroRead for your home machine please contact Student Support & Wellbeing stating which operating system you require.

Please note that due to licensing restrictions, we are unable to provide Claro software to students in receipt of a Disabled Student Allowance (DSA).
