Award success for KMTV journalists

Journalists from KMTV, the local TV station formed through a partnership between the University and KM Media Group, have been recognised for their achievements at the annual Kent Press & Broadcasting Awards.

Keilan Webster won the Neil Bell Kent Sports Journalist of the Year award and achieved a Highly Commended in the Kent New Journalist of the Year award.

Elsewhere, Harry Peet was Highly Commended in the Kent Young Journalist of the Year award.

The awards were presented at an event on Friday 13 July at The Spitfire Ground in Canterbury.

The success for KMTV’s journalists follows on from a runner-up award at the Guardian University Award 2018 in the Business Collaboration category for the University of Kent and the KM Media Group in recognition of the unique offering that KMTV provides.

The long-term ambition is to make KMTV the ‘go-to’ choice for local news in Kent, acting as a driving force behind the revival of localism.
