Community Bulb Planting alongside local residents

Alice Allwright

Students and staff from the University of Kent came down in gardening gloves to get hands on in a community bulb planting session with local residents in Beverly Meadows. Funded by the St. Michael’s Road Area Residents Association alongside the Friends of Beverly Meadows, local community members have planted a range of bulbs, including daffodils, along the edges of the field. The aim of this project is to brighten up the area in spring, as well as increase the biodiversity for local wildlife and pollinators.

Our students were able to meet their neighbours and speak with residents about their experience at Kent whilst making a difference in their local community.

These opportunities to get involved are amazing opportunities for student residents to get to know their neighbours, and work together to develop and maintain their shared community spaces.
