David is a PHD student at the University of Kent. He previously completed an M Litt in Philosophy at the University of Glasgow and a BA in English Literature at Aberystwyth University.
David's research interests include ethics, epistemology and metaphysics. However, his current, main research interest is in role ethics, especially in how role ethicists seek to explain the normativity of our familial and social roles, and this is the subject of his PHD thesis.

'Grounding moral normativity in role ethics’
Role ethics claims that moral goodness consists in fulfilling our familial and social roles. The thesis will attempt to develop an account of why our roles are ethically normative within the framework of role ethics.
David's thesis is being supervised by Professor Simon Kirchin and Dr Alexandra Couto
