About

I read English Language and Literature at Atilim University, Turkey, graduating in 2011. I went on to gain an M.A. in English Language and Literature from the Atilim University in 2011. While studying M.A., I applied for a job and began to work as an instructor in Ondokuz Mayis University, where I taught for approximately two years. I am currently a PhD Candidate in Comparative Literature at University of Kent. Furthermore, I am now an Assistant Lecturer at University of Kent.

Research interests

My M.A dissertation was on the topic ‘Power and Resistance as Dsytopian Concepts: An Analysis of George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four and Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go. My PhD dissertation, however, focuses on ‘Turkish-Latin American Literary Relations: Translation, Magical Realism, and World Literature’. Therefore, my research interests are:  world literature, postcolonial literature, twentieth century comparative literature in Turkey, Latin America, Europe, and the literary history and criticism of the novel. Specific topics of interest might be: national identities; cosmopolitanism; citizenship; the relation between literature and politics; world literary history and canonisation.
