About

As well as performing on national television and radio, Michael has given solo recitals at prestigious venues in Europe but now focuses on teaching and research, which focuses on the ergonomics and physiology of playing classical guitar.

Michael won the Canterbury Festival Composer's Prize 2001. During his postgraduate performance studies he was awarded the Larissa Lovelock Memorial Scholarship.

Research interests

Michael's current research is on the lived experience of playing-related injuries and the causes of overuse injuries in classical guitarists, as well as methods of mitigating these problems.
