Joydip Roy achieved his double degree recently in 2018 with first-class honours in Broadcast Systems Engineering from Southampton Solent University in the UK. Before of that, he has also gained Higher Education Diploma in Broadcast Systems Technology from Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication (recently known as Ravensbourne University London) in London awarded by University of Art London (UAL). Moreover, he achieved postgraduate diploma in management studies from prestigious awarding body in London from 2008. Before of all these degrees, he has achieved his first general Engineering degree in Agricultural Engineering from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh in 2000. As soon as he finished his first degree, he has joined in an engineering consultancy firm which was involved in rural infrastructure and livelihood development. He also done his Master of Science (MS) in Farm Power and Machinery from same university of Bangladesh. He had been moved from Bangladesh to the UK as a highly skilled professional, dedicated significant years to the broadcast media industry in London.
Shortly after finish his Broadcast Systems Engineering degree from Southampton, he has joined as a full time Studio Broadcast Engineer (Multi-skilled) in a broadcast facilities production company in Westminster, that deliver high quality TV programmes to the broadcasters like BBC, ITV, NBC, Fox, Al Jazeera, Euro News, RTE Ireland, VRT Belgium, ETB Spain, Mediaset Spain, Channel 9 Australia and many more. For academic purpose in his undergraduate project, he has also developed a proto-type online TV known as AR Television Network in HTTP platform for the Asian viewers around the world.
For awarding his academic background and diverse experiences, he was offered recently prestigious Engineering and Physical Science Research Council (EPSRC) scholarship for PhD research from the University of Kent, which he started in September 2019.
Joydip is a PhD student in the Wireless Communications group within the Electronics Engineering Department of School of Engineering and Digital Arts (EDA). His current research area is “Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) and super video content (such as 4K, 6K, 8K etc) delivery over 5G wireless and transport network”. He is also interested in other futurist research areas such as Internet of Things (IoT), Driverless Vehicles in 5G or beyond 5G wireless network.
He demonstrates currently Data Networks and Internet module (EL822) for MSc students.
