About

John completed a Mphys in Physics in 2018 at the University of Kent. His thesis was entitled "Quantum Treatment of Quasi-Bound States in a 2-Dimensional Electron Gas Situated Above a Magnetic Monopole" He is currently working towards a PhD under the supervision of Dr Gunnar Möller (Functional Materials Group).

Research interests

John is a theoretical physicist working mainly on numerical studies of condensed matter systems. In particular, he uses the techniques of Diagrammatic Monte Carlo Methods. Diagrammatic Monte Carlo employs standard Monte Carlo practice where each sample is a Feynman diagram. For his work at the University of Kent, he applies these techniques to the study of condensed matter systems such as itinerant magnets.

Supervision

Supervised by Dr Gunnar Moeller.
