Medieval Canterbury Weekend 2026

In 2026 we’re celebrating all things medieval with a fascinating programme of 20 in-person talks from Friday 1 May to Sunday 3 May 2026. Spread across 11 sessions in two venues at the University of Kent, the Medieval Canterbury Weekend brings together leading historians, lively discussion, and fresh insights into the Middle Ages.

The Medieval Canterbury Weekend 2026 will take place from Friday 1 May to Sunday 3 May 2026, hosted at the University of Kent, Canterbury. Events will be held in the Templeman Library Lecture Theatre and a neighbouring lecture theatre in the Grimond Building. As in previous years, Craig’s Bookshop will have a stall throughout the weekend.

The Medieval Canterbury Weekend brings together leading historians and scholars to showcase the latest research on the Middle Ages in an accessible and engaging way. Speakers include Helen CastorMarc MorrisRachel KoopmansDavid Carpenter, and Caroline Barron, among others, covering topics that span religion, politics, kingship, and everyday life in turbulent times.
