Marketing MSc
The student body is so diverse that it creates a welcoming and accepting community.
Personally I was attracted to the MSc in Marketing course as it allowed for an expansion of skills developed during my undergraduate degree in Writing & Mass Communications, adding analytical skill to abstract thinking.
The University of Kent has an international reputation as a highly reputable institution that embraces a multicultural community in the historic, beautiful city of Canterbury.
During my time at Kent, I particularly enjoyed living among a diverse multicultural community, where I learned new habits and ways of life on a daily basis. It allowed a once in a lifetime opportunity to live and work with students from a wide variety of social and cultural backgrounds, learning to cross cultural boundaries and embrace new traditions.
Buyer Decision Making, taught by Dr. Xuemei Bian is an essential addition to the course, as it allows a psychological perspective on the course content and broadens the student’s conceptual understanding of motivational theories and frameworks.
Dr. Fred Ryder, professor of Financial and Management Accounting possesses an excellent, calm and measured teaching style that makes complex content accessible to all students. Dr. Ryder should be commended for his skill and constant positivity.
Dr. Des Laffey is a highly notable professor who taught Digital Marketing and continually made the content engaging and exciting through his enthusiasm for the subject.
Housing for postgraduate students in Woolf College is pleasant and well kept. While there is much construction occurring across campus, the Estates Department does an excellent job of maintaining university facilities. Anyone who is looking to come to Kent Business School in the future will have the new KBS facilities to look forward to.
Pursuing a second degree allows you to complement your initial undergraduate studies by adding a new layer of skill and knowledge that will be directly applicable to your career path.
The MSc in Marketing built my foundation in research and report presentation, allowing me to develop the necessary skills to pursue a career in academia.
My current plan is to work in marketing for a year, before pursuing a PhD in Consumer Behaviour and ideally remaining in academia to teach at the university level.
At the postgraduate level in Kent, the student body is so diverse that it creates a welcoming and accepting community, where the opportunities to get involved are limitless. My best advice would be to reach out to your peers, learn about their cultures, take part in programs like the Global Skills Award, and really make an effort to make the most of your time here. There is no other experience like it.
