Being able to link theories and ideas between modules helped with my understanding of business concepts and ideas.

What attracted you to the course? 

Having completed an undergraduate degree in Theology, I decided I really wanted to gain further insight into the business world. The Msc Management (General) offered me the opportunity to gain business knowledge across different areas.

Why did you choose to study at Kent? 

The Kent Business School has a great reputation and it was a convenient location for me.

What did you particularly enjoy about your studies/time here? 

I met a mixture of interesting people from all different nationalities, which made seminar discussions more vibrant, bringing different views together.

Which modules did you enjoy the most, and why? 

Personally I enjoyed different aspects from across all modules, and it was this variety that made the course so enjoyable. Furthermore, being able to link theories and ideas between modules helped with my understanding of business concepts and ideas.

What about the teaching? 

Overall the teaching was to a high standard and faculty members were keen to help you when you needed the support.

What was the level of support like at Kent for postgraduates? 

There is a very strong network of people available to postgraduate students, from the union and in particular kent business school careers department.

What were the facilities like in your school and on campus generally?

The Kent campus is not only picturesque, but it provides everything that student’s need. Kent business school was perfect for study areas, drinking coffee and socialising between classes!

What does doing a further degree give you that a first degree doesn't?

A further higher education qualification in a specialized area, and another set of skills for your CV,

How did your course lay the foundations for your chosen career path? 

It gave me the business knowledge and qualification I needed.

Could you describe your career path since leaving Kent? 

I have just started as a trainee Company Secretary in an accountancy firm in Canterbury.

Could you describe a typical day in your current role? 

I am responsible for assisting in the company secretarial department, providing statutory compliance to clients. From organizing and preparing documentation for submission to Companies House, to ensuring statutory registers are kept up to date. Each day there are a variety of tasks to be completed and I am training and learning constantly from those around me. 

What are your future plans/aspirations? 

To become a qualified Chartered Secretary, gaining an ICSA certification

Finally, what advice would you give to graduates thinking of coming to Kent to study at postgraduate level?

Go for it – you will only gain from your experience at Kent, which ultimately will enhance your future prospects.
