Overview

This module equips you with the advanced techniques needed to communicate data analytics results effectively. You will begin by reviewing simple data presentation methods, such as graphical and numerical summaries, and exploring how to use them appropriately to present data. Building on concepts from the Introduction to Data Analytics module, you will then advance to more sophisticated graphical summaries and data visualisation techniques, including their creation using a suitable statistical software package.
You will learn how to present results across different media and report on complex analyses, focusing on the correct interpretation of results and the discussion of modelling assumptions. The module introduces cutting-edge software platforms that enable the creation of sophisticated graphics and the semi-automated production of reports. These skills are directly applicable to practical data analytics in a wide range of professional fields.

On successfully completing the module, students will be able to:

1) Understand the concepts behind graphical and numerical summarisation techniques and apply them to real data with a reasonable level of skill.

2) Apply advanced data visualisation methods to real data using appropriate software.

3) Use software platforms that apply cutting-edge techniques for data presentation with a reasonable level of skill.

4) Communicate and present results in a report in an effective way using sophisticated techniques.
