• Basic structure and function of the human body
• The physiology of the normal, healthy body
• The physiology of disease
• Detailed diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of a defined disease condition

Learning outcomes

The intended subject specific learning outcomes.
On successfully completing the module students will be able to:
Describe the structure and function of major body systems and organs.
Demonstrate an ability to describe the normal physiology and function of a range of specialised cells and how these function.
Explain how humans are able to assimilate nutrients and remove waste products.
Demonstrate an appreciative understanding of major diseases that affect the body's cells, tissues and organs.

The intended generic learning outcomes.
On successfully completing the module students will be able to:
Demonstrate the development of practical/technical skills.
Analyse, evaluate and correctly interpret data.
Communicate and present data effectively.
Obtain and use information from a variety of sources as part of self-directed learning.
Manage their time and use their organisation skills within the context of self-directed learning.
