Overview

The Industry Report requires you to reflect on and evidence your experiences in relation to both your university studies as well as to a wide range of employability skills you have gained during your placement. You will write a report at a professional standard which details a structured summary of the tasks undertaken during your industrial placement and reflections on these tasks, including, but not limited to:
Detailed description of the organisational environment in which you worked
What you did and examples of your work. Feel free to include photographs and diagrams as required.
Tasks where skills learned on the course were/were not useful
Technical aspects (use a glossary or list of acronyms if relevant)
What did you learn about yourself/your studies?
Challenges you faced and overcame
How did your observations change your perceptions of the field and/or industry?

Method of assessment

Report. Assessment Details: 5000 words Written Report worth 100%. This Assessment is Pass Compulsory.

Reassessment Method: Like-for-like. Students will be required to revise and resubmit their report.

Learning outcomes

On successfully completing the module, students will be able to: 

1) Systematically observe and accurately record in detail the varying aspects of their employment and analyse these observations for meaning
2) Reflect and analyse their own performance using media appropriate for the purpose
3) Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of how discourses of Politics and International Relations are intertwined in the workplace and how relevant skills can be used
4) Show practical knowledge and awareness of key issues in their employment/personal development and suggest ways that these issues can be tackled through skills learned throughout their studies

  1. Credit level 6. Higher level module usually taken in Stage 3 of an undergraduate degree.
  2. ECTS credits are recognised throughout the EU and allow you to transfer credit easily from one university to another.
  3. The named convenor is the convenor for the current academic session.
