Overview

The role of a project manager and their competencies are key to project success. Successful project management leads facilitate smooth running of business operations and competent management of large-scale changes in unpredictable business environments. Responsible and ethical project management practice is at the forefront of all discussions in this module. You will explore what has led to the recognition of the immense importance of project “Responsible Leadership” skills and competencies, and why. You will critically examine the value and significance of responsible decision making in projects, their leadership and organisational context. Get ready to think, act, communicate, reflect and learn as a successful responsible leader!

Learning outcomes

On successfully completing the module, students will be able to: 

Critically examine the role of responsible leadership under the Ethics, Sustainability and Governance principles in contemporary project management.
Analyse relevant competency frameworks and critically argue their applications, advantages and limitations.
Evaluate and critically examine on the wider impacts of decisions made in projects and propose remedial action to drive further innovation in project leadership practice.
