Overview

Let’s explore the significant impact that digital transformation is having upon the way organisations make their products and provide their services! You will examine the role of AI, Blockchain, IOT and Industry 4.0 and the impact that these technologies are having upon a variety of service and production environments. You will develop comprehensive understanding of the role that technology is having upon operations, and you will be able to confidently explore how to optimise operations using a variety of digital tools.

Individual Management Briefing Report (1000 words) worth 20%.
Individual Report (3000 words) worth 80%.

Reassessment Method: 100% Written Assessment (Individual Report – 3,000 words)

Learning outcomes

On successfully completing the module, students will be able to: 
Critically examine operations management theories and techniques and how operations are being transformed by digital technologies.
Apply creativity and originality in applying a variety of techniques and analysis frameworks to make informed decisions on operations strategy and lead digital transformation in businesses.
Systematically employ different approaches to operations design and effectively contribute to the organisation’s objectives
Critically assess the challenges of operations management to leverage the principles of Industry 4.0 to drive efficiency into the creation and delivery of products and services.
