Overview

The growing field of people operations focuses on approaches to managing organizations that support improving employee performance and organizational outcomes. This module covers the different ways in which people operations within organisations. The module will introduce you to the strategic use of data in people operations to tackle workplace challenges effectively. It covers various methodologies for analyzing and interpreting data to improve organizational performance and employee well-being. You will explore diverse data collection, processing, and utilization techniques. Through practical exercises and case studies, you will learn to extract valuable insights, recognize patterns, and make informed decisions to optimize human capital management. Ethical considerations such as privacy and confidentiality are emphasized, ensuring responsible data usage. By the module's conclusion, you will gain a thorough understanding of how data-driven approaches can positively impact organizational culture and productivity.

Learning outcomes

On successfully completing the module, students will be able to: 

Build a foundational understanding of the cross-disciplinary field of behavioural science and its relevance in addressing organizational challenges.
Analyse how inherent biases in decision-making processes impact selection, assessment procedures, and workplace equality and inclusivity.
Evaluate theories of human motivation and their practical implications for enhancing productivity and engagement in the workplace.
Evaluate the influence of workplace interactions, including those within individuals and among teams, on organizational dynamics and performance.
Assess the multifaceted impact of workplace factors on stress levels and overall employee well-being, and propose strategies to mitigate negative effects and promote a healthier work environment.
