Tell us about your career path since graduation.

After completing my Master’s of Architecture degree at Kent, I went on to complete a PgDip in Architecture: Professional Practice at Cardiff University. At this time, I was also working at an architectural practice that focuses on the regeneration of listed buildings as well as contemporary new-build projects.

I now teach on several architectural and design related modules at the University of Kent International College.

What does a typical work day look like for you?

A typical day involves preparing lectures and teaching passionate students that are beginning their studies at the University of Kent on either the International Foundation Programme, International Year Zero, or International Incorporated Master’s.

Can you share a professional highlight from your career so far?

A key highlight in my career was in June 2023 when I became a Registered Architect with the Architects Registration Board and a Chartered Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects.

How did your time at Kent help you achieve your current career?

Studying at Kent was a stepping stone to becoming an architect and it gave me the knowledge and skills to understand architectural design in relation to professional practice as well as widening my network with local architectural firms.

What advice would you give to our current/prospective students who are looking to get into the same line of work?

Architecture is hard work but a really rewarding career. I would highly recommend studying architecture if you are interested in design and the built environment, and enjoy making the world a better place.

Do you have a favourite memory from your time at Kent?

Going on a study trip to Naples in Italy and visiting Pompeii and Sorrento. It was such a great feeling to experience the bustling atmosphere of Naples.

Is there anything you would do differently if you could repeat your time at Kent?

Half of my degree was in lockdown due to COVID, so I’d have loved to have been able to make the most of the fantastic facilities on campus.

Are you still in touch with other Kent alumni or academics?

Yes, I’m still in touch with a few friends I met at Kent.

What are your future ambitions?

I really love teaching architecture and design and hope to expand my experience in this field.
