The University’s BAME Staff Network is looking forward to welcoming the Right Reverend Dr Rose Hudson-Wilkin, Bishop of Dover as keynote speaker for this year’s International Women’s Day celebration on Monday 8 March.

Dr Hudson-Wilkin is the first Black woman to become a Church of England Bishop, and was previously Chaplain to the Speaker of the House of Commons (2010 to 2019).

The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day campaign is #ChooseToChallenge, and Dr Hudson-Wilkin will be sharing her thoughts on issues of gender and race.

Dr Hudson-Wilkin will give a 30 minute lecture entitled ‘Phenomenal Women: making their voices count’, followed by a 20 minute Q&A session wherein delegates are welcome to present questions to the Bishop.

The event has been hosted by Kent’s BAME Staff Network and is endorsed by the Deputy Vice Chancellor and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Champion Professor Georgina Randsley de Moura.

The event starts at 5:30pm to 6:30pm and will be via MS Teams, accessible here.
