History Projects

Led by students from the School of History, our History Projects aim to document and archive the University’s past.

This is your opportunity to share memories, information, photographs and materials with us to help form a long-lasting archive tracing Kent’s development. The research that our students are carrying out for this project also forms a new module focusing on real-world research skills, so by taking part you are also helping current students to gain new expertise in an area that will help with their career development.

 

Time Team

Investigating the important events in the history of the University from 1965 through to the present day.

The Student Experience

Explores the changes that have occurred in both the academic and social lives of our students.

The Campus

From relatively humble origins to the vast, multi-location complexes that we run today.

Images and Photographs

Finding iconic images to create a distinctive pictorial representation of the changing nature of the University.

Teaching at Kent

Exploring the changing experiences of those teaching at the University over the last 50 years.

History Pre-1965

This project explores the history of the University of Kent site prior to construction of the campus.

Disability at Kent

This project explores the changing experiences of disabled students and staff at the University.

History of the Templeman

From its conception through to the current developments being planned for the expansion of the complex.

History of the Gulbenkian

This venue as both a social hub and a platform for artistic expression is at the heart of this project.

Cartoons

How students have been perceived in the wider community during the University's history.

Kent and the Media

This project will focus on local and national media coverage of events and issues involving the University.
