Being Successful doesn't make you better than anyone else

Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic

The University of Kent has a rich and diverse representation of BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) students in undergraduate degree programmes, however increasing the representation of BAME students on postgraduate research courses is paramount for the university to achieve inclusive and equal progression for all students. The diversity of the student body also suggests an imperative need to address the under-representation of BAME academics and other staff employed by the University.

Throughout the Student Success Project, we have had the opportunity to hear our BAME students’ views on the importance of seeing themselves represented among the teaching and professional services staff. This insight provides a starting point to make visible our current BAME staff and their achievements, and also to develop initiatives and positive actions aimed at removing institutional barriers for BAME students' progression and success.
