Professor Richard Scase

Emeritus Professor in the School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research and one of the world's leading business forecasters

Richard spent the whole of his academic career at Kent, rising from probationary Assistant Lecturer in 1967 to full Professorship in 1982. A prolific writer of books and academic articles, he has also written several reports commissioned by the UK government, the European Commission and the UN, and most recently the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He has given more than 1000 presentations at major conference centres and venues, speaking alongside global political and business leaders and celebrities to professional, corporate and industry audiences across the world. In these he focuses upon major demographic, economic and social trends and how these are likely to shape our future world. He is a great lover of 'American Song Book' music, and for this reason, through the Richard Scase Music Fund, he supports the University's Big Band that encourages student talent in this genre.
