1. Travelling by car
(NB: allow plenty of time for parking during term time.)
Use pay/display visitors' car park behind Gulbenkian Theatre and Colyer-Fergusson Building.
£2 (3h) £6 (full day 08:00 to 17:00).
Directions from the Gulbenkian car park to CHSS:
- Head towards the back of theatre building and take the path towards the road, then turn right.
- Take the path running alongside Giles Lane, at the end, turn right.
- Head diagonally towards Cornwallis North West.
- Enter the building through the automatic doors, then turn left.
- Head along the corridor, the doors at the end open automatically.
- Enter George Allen Wing and follow signs to CHSS, 2nd floor via stairs or lift.
- CHSS; Knowledge Management Centre (N219): through the double doors, 2nd door on left.
- CHSS; General Enquiries Office (N214): through the double doors and straight ahead.

2. Travel by train, coach and bus
Travel to Canterbury West train station from St Pancras International or Charing Cross, London.
Buses to The University of Kent run at regular intervals, you need either the green Unibus or the no. 26 route. Whichever bus you take, you need to ask the bus driver for the Darwin College bus stop at the University.
To catch the green Unibus (more frequent) from Canterbury West train station, turn right out of the train station and walk along to the end of Station Road West. Use the zebra crossing to cross to the bus stop on the opposite side of St Dunstans Street.
To catch the no. 26 bus from Canterbury West train station, cross Station Road West and walk about 50 metres to the right to the bus stop.
Travel to Canterbury East train station from London Victoria.
To catch the green Unibus from Canterbury East train station, turn right out of the station and walk to the bus stop at Rhodaus Town.
If you wish to travel from Canterbury train stations to the University by taxi ask the driver for the Darwin College bus stop at the University of Kent.
When you arrive at the Darwin College bus stop, you will see building work currently underway (a new extension to the School of Social Policy). You will have to head to the left-hand side of the building site (click photo to enlarge).
and walk around the site with the protective hoarding on your right until you see this sign in the photo below (click photo to enlarge).
Follow the <- Cornwallis arrow and walk under the building through a short ‘tunnel’ which brings you into a courtyard. Turn immediately right and the entrance door to the George Allen Wing is straight ahead.
Follow the signs to CHSS on the second floor. If you require The CHSS Knowledge Management Centre, it is the second door on the left once through the double doors. The CHSS Administration Office is straight ahead for all enquiries.

3. Wheelchair user access
George Allen Wing entrance is an assisted door with push panel to the right. Take the lift (on left inside entrance) to 2nd floor, turn right. There are assisted double doors with push panel to the left. Please be aware that when you press it the doors will open outwards towards you.
