Kent Opportunity Fund

Scholars stood on Darwin stairs looking at the camera and some holding thank you boards

The University's founders were committed to the principle of equal opportunities for all students. We wanted to continue that tradition, ensuring that all of our students have the chance to excel academically, personally and professionally, regardless of financial circumstances. This was only achievable with your help; the gifts you have made will ‘inspire the future’ and help the next generation of Kent students to excel.

The Kent Opportunity Fund was established to provide a firm foundation on which to build Kent’s future. It supports a broad range of scholarships, student projects to enhance extra-curricular activities at Kent, and bursaries to support students working through financial hardship. Committees of Kent staff, alumni and donors allocate the funds raised and ensure that they go to the students who are most in need.

Thanks to your kind donations to the Kent Opportunity Fund this year we have been able to provide desperately needed support to record numbers of students. Over £200,000 will be spent this year on our emergency funding for Covid-related hardship. That money is being spent on hardship bursaries and to provide laptops which will allow students better access to online-learning modules which supplement face-to-face teaching for vulnerable groups. But more is still needed.

Make a gift now and help us inspire the future!
