Student Activities is at the heart of Kent Union and there are so many ways you can get involved and become part of a Student Group community.
Any Kent student can join a Student Group! There are over 250 groups to choose from, with new groups being set up all the time. By joining a group not only will you meet people with similar interests to you, you'll also have a great time and develop loads of transferable skills! Every year we come together to celebrate the successes of students and groups through the Activities Awards and Team Kent Awards.
Join us to celebrate the very best societies, fundraising and volunteering of the year! We’ll be bringing together RaG, Societies, Media and Community Action groups for the Activities Awards and all of our amazing Sports Groups for the Team Kent Awards, to recognise and reward all the dedication and hard work that goes into running all of our Student Groups.

Student Groups are communities of students brought together by the same aims or interests.
These interests can be in almost anything from keeping active to raising money for a good cause. Groups are set up, organised and run by committees of students with the support of Kent Union staff.
Groups run activities based on their aims but most run a mixture of weekly meetups and social events. Every Student Group has a page on our website, so take a look and find the community for you!

Can't find a Student Group that matches your interests? Start your own!
There is a huge range of Student Groups to join at Kent however, if you've had a look and nothing is catching your eye, we can help you to set up a new group.
To set up a new group you'll need 3 people to form the committee who will organise and run the society. Your new society should also have different aims and activities to any existing society and should align with Kent Union's values.
Once you've set up the society, you'll be supported by experienced staff in the students' union, who have the knowledge and tools to support you in building the society. You'll be given access to exclusive online learning and clear instructions about what you need to do in order to run your group.
New group applications are currently closed but will open again in Term 2.
